Homa (also called Havan) is one of the oldest rituals of humankind. For over 5,000 years, it has been practiced to transform body, mind, and environment through the purifying power of fire.
What happens during a Homa?
A sacred fire is lit in a special fire pit (Agni Kund). While Vedic mantras are recited, offerings – ghee, herbs, rice, and wood – are placed into the flames. Agni, the fire, serves as a messenger between humans and the divine.
The Science Behind It
Modern studies show: Homa smoke has antibacterial properties. The burning of ghee and certain herbs demonstrably cleanses the air of germs. Regular practice measurably improves indoor air quality.
Your First Homa Practice
For beginners, we recommend a simple Agni Hotra – a sunrise and sunset ritual that takes only a few minutes. All you need: an Agni Kund, cow dung, ghee, and rice.
